Inherited
Guthrie’s 2022 exhibition at The Hub Gallery for Emerging Artists, part of Caboolture Regional Gallery, explored the relationship between ceramics, textiles, and place. Inherited blended clay and woven fabric, reflecting both material traditions and an exploration of belonging.
Drawing from her Eastern Polynesian – Māori heritage, Guthrie engaged with clay and fibre as vessels for memory and new connections to Kabi Kabi landscapes in Moreton Bay The weavings echoed traditional practices of making and storytelling, grounding the work in both personal and cultural lineage. This interplay of materials invited reflection on craft, heritage, and place, positioning Inherited Forms as a meditation on identity and adaptation.
